In collaboration with "x+x arquitectes" as founding memeber
PLW chair comes out as a specific response to a flexible space with unidentified areas in constant change.
In this case the hostel kitchen and living room offer a dynamic use, which varies along the day. The furniture is carried from one to the other, and the furniture itself is able to adapt to meet precisely the needs of this programmatic variation.
Taking a system that offered four ambiguous positions as a starting point, we finally redefined the system denying two of the initial options but strengthening the two remaining ones into clearly opposite positions, which established a balance in between comfort and flexibility.
One is a low armchair, which offers the right position to chill, and more laid back activities, while the other is a chair providing an upright position suitable for activities such as eating or working.
